Why join EORNA?
EORNA is the professional home for operating room and perioperative nursing in Europe. Membership connects your national association with peers across the continent, gives your members a voice in European perioperative nursing policy, and provides practical resources, education and recognition that are difficult to build alone.
EORNA membership is open to national operating room and perioperative nursing associations, not individual nurses. As a federation, EORNA brings member associations together to represent, support and strengthen the profession across Europe.
Who can become a member?
Membership is open to national associations representing operating room or perioperative nurses in their country. Individual nurses are welcome to engage with EORNA’s activities, congresses and resources through their own national association’s membership.
Each member association is represented at EORNA Board meetings, held twice a year, giving your country a direct voice in EORNA’s decisions and direction.

EORNA membership gives your national association practical, ongoing value across four areas.
Community and network
- Access to a collaborative, Europe-wide community of perioperative nursing associations
- Peer support and shared learning from associations facing similar challenges
- Promotion of your association through the EORNA website and quarterly updates
- Use of the EORNA logo on your association’s stationery
- Discounted exhibition space at the EORNA Congress
Governance and representation
- A seat at the table in EORNA’s governance, with a voice in EORNA’s activities and decisions
- The opportunity to help shape EORNA’s organising procedures
- The opportunity to host a biennial EORNA Board Meeting in your country
Education and professional development
- Involvement in EORNA’s committees, working on education, standards and best practice
- Support to develop and sustain high standards of perioperative care and education across member countries
- Two complimentary EORNA Congress registrations each year
Standards, ethics and science
- A role in defining and defending the ethical standards of perioperative nursing
- Involvement in developing position statements and practice guidelines for perioperative nursing
- Contribution to, and access to, EORNA’s work advancing perioperative science and evidence-based practice
Membership fee
The annual EORNA membership fee is €475 per national association.
How to apply
Applying for EORNA membership is straightforward:
- Complete the EORNA membership application form.
- The EORNA Secretariat will review your application and contact you with next steps.
- Once approved, your association’s representatives will be invited to the next EORNA Board meeting.
