EORNA has developed two core reference documents that set shared standards for perioperative nursing education and practice across Europe.

The EORNA Common Core Curriculum for Perioperative Nursing gives national associations and training institutions a shared framework for perioperative nursing education. It sets out the core topics and competencies a perioperative nursing programme should cover, supporting the recognition of training across Europe and helping countries strengthen existing programmes or establish new ones where none currently exist.

The EORNA Framework for Perioperative Nurse Competencies is a companion resource that summarises, in a shorter format, the core domains of competency expected of a perioperative nurse. It is a useful reference for training institutions, employers and individual nurses who want a concise overview before consulting the full curriculum.

Both documents are freely available to download below. EORNA encourages national associations and training providers to share them widely.
